When I reached my 30s, my metabolism slowed down. The inches of my waist started to increase really quickly that in a few months, with my usual diet, reached 38 inches. I didn't mind at all having a big tummy; didn't care whether it looked ugly in the mirror or what. But there's one thing that changed my mind. Each time I would sit, I couldn't breathe. The reason was that my tummy was being pressed to my heart muscles. I avoided bending my body so that it would not stress my heart. That caused a serious concern in me. Since then, I decided that I would never allow my tummy to grow that big again.
Back then, weight loss was not a big thing. People didn't talk about it, at least, not in my circles. Maybe the women who wanted to be sexier talked about it most of the time, but not among men. For that reason, I had no idea how to flatten my tummy, where to get information about it. So I just used common sense or what I traditionally knew – don't eat meat.
I stopped eating meat like beef, pork, and chicken. I didn't know if it was going to work but in weeks, I noticed a decrease in my waist line. For many months, I ate only fish, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. I didn't avoid sweets and carbohydrates. I had no idea then if I should avoid them or not. I am a carbo eater. I love bread and rice. I could not survive a day without rice. If I abstain from it the whole day, my body craves for it at night. So, a no-rice meal was out of the question.
Finally, in less than a year, I reached my ideal waist line – 29 inches. Unfortunately, eating seafood most of the time caused allergic reactions to my body. I had no choice but to eat meat again; but this time, only in moderation. With meat added to my diet, in time, my waist grew to 32 inches. But that's it. I have never allowed my tummy to grow bigger than that. Whenever my waist is over 31 inches, I had to do something to bring it back to 31.
