- A half-hour walk burns 160 calories. Don't stroll. Walk a little faster but not fast enough to leave you catching your breath.
- Biking for 5 miles (8 kilometers) burns 250 calories.
- Dance for an hour and burn 400 calories. You should sweat while dancing, or at least, you should feel your body getting warm.
- Swim for an hour and burn 510 calories.
- An hour of gardening that includes bending, stretching, and lifting pots can make you burn 250 calories.
- Play tennis or badminton for an hour. This helps you burn 800 calories.
Keep in mind that the number of calories you burn depends on your weight. The figures above are based on a 130-pound weight. Watch your food intake as well. For example, should you decide to swim an hour every week so that you lose 500 calories a week and eventually a pound a week, make sure that you don't add a 500-calorie food to your diet.
Here's a simple plan that I followed.
I walk an hour 3 times a week. That's around 500 - 600 calories a week. My coffee is freshly brewed – no cream, no sugar. I take half a cup after every full meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Black coffee helps me burn quicklier the food that I just took. Once I have achieved my ideal inches on my waist, I reduce my walking.
